Thomas Ostermeier (Germany)
Thomas Ostermeier holds a workshop and lecture in RJ.
Coming from the renowned German theater director and director, it is the result of a partnership between the Goethe-Institut and Sesc CopacabanaOne of the most renowned theater directors and directors of his generation, German Thomas Ostermeier will be in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 for his first workshop in the city. The free initiative, made possible through a partnership between the Goethe-Institut and Sesc Copacabana, takes place between January 16 and 18, aimed at exponents of theater production, creation and direction.
Ostermeier was born in 1968, in the town of Soltau. He built an early and unique career. Within a few years, Ostermeier took over one of the most important German-language theaters. Since 1999, alongside other names such as Jens Hillje, Sahsa Waltz and Jochen Sandig, he is in charge of the artistic direction of the theater Schaubühne Berlin, located at Lehniner Platz. Since then, Ostermeier has made more than thirty productions.
beyond the theater Schaubühne, he also worked on the Salzburg Festival, in the Edinburgh International Festival, at the theater Deutsches Schauspielhaus from hamburg and at the theater Kammerspiele of Munich, among others. Ostermeier is known for moving between the classic and the contemporary, favoring a realistic approach. Repeatedly, he addressed the theme of the socially underprivileged: in Der starke Stamm (2002) by Marieluise Fleisser, in Music on demand (2003) by Franz Xaver Kroetz, and in Woyzeck (2003) by Georg Büchner. The narrative way of telling stories and the presence of body language characterize their productions.
