WAGNER SCHWARTZ
After graduating in letters, Wagner Schwartz (Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, 1972) participates in choreographic research and experimentation groups in South America and Europe.
Author of nine creations since 2003, he received, among others, the APCA 2012 award for "Best artistic project" for Piranha, and was selected by the Rumos Itaú Cultural Dança program in 2000, 2003, 2009 and 2014. His projects are cited in publications such as O fazer-dizer do corpo: dança e performatividade (The making-saying of the body: dance and performativity) by Jussara Sobreira Setenta, 2008, or Am Rand der Körper: Inventuren des Unabgeschlossenenen im zeitgenössischen Tanz (At the edge of the body: inventories of unfinished contemporary dance) by Susanne Foellmer, 2009.
He was the curator of the 10th Bienal Sesc de Dança, international collaborator of the Festival Contemporâneo de Dança, in São Paulo, and artist in residence at the Curitiba Theater Festival. He has worked as a performer for choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, theater director Yves-Noël Genod, artist Pierre Droulers, and filmmakers Judith Cahen and Masayasu Eguchi.
Her latest creation A Boba, premiered at Mostra Internacional de Teatro de São Paulo, MIT-SP and Playlist, created in partnership with choreographer Lorenzo De Angelis, at the Camping festival at Centre National de la Danse, France. In 2018, her first fiction book, Never together but at the same time, was published by Editora Nós. She lives and works in São Paulo and Paris.
