SPIRITUS MUNDI VS AZTEC OUROBORUS La Pocha Nostra (Mexico/USA)

la.jpg

Spiritus Mundi VS Aztec Ouroborus  is the new performance of La Pocha Nostra. Employing its “robotic-baroque/cyborg-kitsch” aesthetic brand and acidic humor, the performance brings a series of humorous and daring shamanic and psycho-magical actions that continue La Pocha Nostra's quest for a more complex notion of identity and of social belonging. Through the presentation of a living ritual language, the performance  have the  intention to activate the collective imagination as a territory for artivism. In the play, radical imagination is used as a tool against extreme conservatism and violence, ruthless corporate power, social media narcissism, cultural gentrification, intolerance, and loss of faith in humanity and democracy.

Work carried out at the USP 2019 International Biennial
